Vintage clothing is not actually that difficult to find. There are a number of stores around the place which sell it now. It is surprisingly popular. The main reason as to why you are going to need to think about where to buy it is NOT because you will have difficulty finding it. It is more down to the fact that you are going to have a great deal of difficulty when it comes to finding vintage clothing of a high quality which you can actually feel proud to wear.
Dedicated Vintage Clothing Store
It is suggested that you always go down the route of finding a dedicated vintage clothing store. These tend to have far better stock which will cover a variety of time periods. They will most likely know how to source the best stock possible too. This will ensure that there will be a plethora of different high-quality products to choose from. Won’t lie to you here though, high street retail is going to be expensive. The bills to run a store nowadays are absolutely huge. If you need to stick to a budget, you may want to check another one of the methods on this list. That being said, if you are new to the world of vintage clothing then you should always start with a dedicated vintage clothing store, just for a bit of advice.
The second option is online. There are a couple of options here. Obviously, the main one will be online vintage clothing providers. The selection will be very much the same as if you headed to a dedicated vintage clothing store online. The prices tend to be much cheaper though. You won’t really get that much of a personal service on the site and, obviously, you can’t try things on either. If you are looking for a bigger selection, and to maybe snag something at a cheaper price, you may even want to look into the idea of an auction site such as eBay. Many of the people who are selling vintage clothing through sites such as eBay really do not know the true value of what they have. This means that you may actually be able to secure a pretty good deal. However, do be sensible with your bids on sites like this. The last thing you want to do is get ‘caught up in the moment’ and overpay for something that you really did not want that badly in the first place.
Charity Shops and Thrift Stores
Finally, take a look around charity shops and thrift stores. Yes, the selection in these stores will not be all that great. However, we find that it is perfect for discovering a ‘hidden gem’. The prices tend not to attract the high prices that the dedicated vintage stores charge either. This means that, if you shop properly, you will be able to get a pretty decent deal on just about anything that you purchase. This is going to be fantastic. However, unless you have decent charity shops and thrift stores in your area, it is unlikely to be the only option.
